The official opening and keynote talk of the unique Green Hydrogen edition of the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) will be carried out by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The South Africa Green Hydrogen Summit, as the conference is known, will hold between Monday, November 28, to Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in Cape Town. On November 29, 2022, President Ramaphosa will give the keynote speech.

The Africa Green Hydrogen Alliance (AGHA), which aims to encourage continental green hydrogen cooperation, was founded with South Africa as one of its founding members. Senior expert delegations from throughout the continent and Europe will speak at the conference.

The Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) in 2021 helped identify some of the prospects that will be built upon during the Summit.

One of the symposium’s highlights was the emergence of South Africa as a prospective exporter of green energy thanks to significant investment assistance from Sasol and Anglo-American, which helped the nation’s green hydrogen projects.

Green hydrogen was identified as a “Big Frontier”, in the Country Investment Strategy, indicating that it represents both current and future growth and investment potential for South Africa.

Summit Green Hydrogen was identified as a promising industry for government assistance and strategic investment during the first infrastructure summit.

The summit also helps in bringing together key players, including project sponsors, government decision-makers, financial institutions, international authorities, and academic institutions, to facilitate knowledge sharing and, most importantly, and to create a setting that fosters the development of long-lasting working relationships.

This is coming after King Charles III received President Ramaphosa and his wife at Buckingham Palace for his first state visit as a monarch.

In June 2019, US president Donald Trump and his wife Melania were hosted by queen Elizabeth II in the UK.

This was the first invitation Charles has extended since taking the throne in September, when his mother passed away. He has yet to reveal where he will travel on his first official tour abroad.
