President William Ruto and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni joined Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Thursday for the Piny Luo Cultural Festival at the Got Ramogi shrine in Siaya County.
The annual festival celebrates Luo heritage, attracting leaders and participants from across the region.
President Museveni, the event’s chief guest, was welcomed earlier at the Kenya-Uganda border in Busia by Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi. His presence underscores the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between Kenya and Uganda.
The festival, which has been ongoing in Migwena, Bondo, culminates in various activities, including a much-anticipated friendly football match.
Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia will face off against Uganda’s Kitara FC, adding an exciting sporting element to the cultural showcase.
The Piny Luo Festival serves as a platform to celebrate and preserve the rich traditions and history of the Luo community. It brings together dignitaries, community leaders, and citizens to honour their shared culture while fostering unity and collaboration.
