President Tinubu Appeals to European Union for Security Assistance

European Union Asked for Assistance by Tinubu on Security Matters (News Central TV)

President Bola Tinubu has urged the European Union (EU) to provide assistance to Nigeria and Africa in bolstering security and promoting economic development, with the aim of alleviating poverty on the continent.

During a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council, Mr. Charles Michel, President Tinubu emphasized the need for the support and partnership of the EU and other development partners to tackle the severe poverty prevalent in Africa.

President Tinubu specifically requested the attention of the European Union should be directed towards addressing security challenges in areas such as Lake Chad and the coastal regions. He assured the European Union and its member states that he would maintain regular communication and collaboration with them.

President Tinubu stressed that his administration considers poverty and insecurity as top priorities, and he is committed to taking all necessary measures to address these issues effectively.

In response, President Michel congratulated President Tinubu on his election and reiterated the Council’s dedication to strengthening cooperation and partnership with Nigeria, based on mutual respect and shared interests. He emphasized the significance of Nigeria to the EU and the international community.

Mr. Michel encouraged President Tinubu to continue working closely with the European Union across various relevant areas.
