President Tinubu Appoints Abdullahi Bello as Chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed the appointment of Abdullahi Bello as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

The announcement was made on Thursday through a statement issued by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

The President expects the newly appointed Chairman, upon confirmation by the Nigerian Senate, to lead the Bureau with integrity, ensuring the maintenance of high standards of public morality in government operations. Additionally, he is tasked with ensuring that the conduct of public officers adheres to the highest standards of morality and accountability.

Abdullahi Bello brings over 25 years of professional experience in consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia. He holds a PhD in Anti-Money Laundering Compliance and is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with over 17 years of working experience.

Previously, Bello served as the Deputy Head of Department, Monitoring and Analysis, at the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit and held the position of Head of Forensic Accounting and Financial Investigation at the EFCC. He also has experience as a lecturer at Newcastle Business School, UK, and has worked in the banking sector with Afribank Plc and Stanbic Bank.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Bello’s capabilities to lead the Code of Conduct Bureau effectively and contribute to upholding transparency and ethical standards in public service.
