President Bola Tinubu visited Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Monday, to express his solidarity with the victims of last Tuesday’s devastating floods.
News Central reports that following the floods, over 37 persons were confirmed dead, property worth billions of naira destroyed, and over one million residents in Maiduguri and Jere local government area are homeless.
Upon arriving at the Airforce Base in Maiduguri, President Tinubu was received by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, along with the governors of Bauchi, Kogi, and Sokoto States—Bala Mohammed, Usman Ododo, and Ahmed Aliyu. These governors had previously visited Governor Zulum to offer their sympathies regarding the recent flood disaster.
President Tinubu’s visit will include a meeting with the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, and tours of the flood victim camps in Maiduguri to offer support and assistance.
