President Tinubu Embarks on Official Visit to Equatorial Guinea

President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day official visit to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, following an invitation from President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

According to a statement from Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu will meet with Mbasogo at the Presidential Villa upon arrival.

The discussions will focus on agreements related to oil and gas, as well as security issues.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and other cabinet members who will assist in signing agreements and exploring ways to enhance bilateral relations.

“President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday, August 14, depart Abuja for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on a three-day official visit to honour the invitation of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

“President Tinubu will meet with the Equatorial Guinean President at the Presidential Villa on arrival, where meetings will be held between the two leaders and agreements, particularly on oil and gas and security, signed.

“The President will be accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and other members of his cabinet who will be involved in the signing of agreements and review of opportunities to improve bilateral relations,” the statement reads.

This visit follows President Tinubu’s recent international trips, including visits to France, the Netherlands, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. These trips have centred on investment discussions, a key aspect of his administration’s economic policy.
