President Tinubu Free to Travel Anywhere During Leave - Presidency

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has responded to criticism regarding the President’s recent travel from the United Kingdom to France, stating that Tinubu is free to travel wherever he wishes during his two-week leave.

“President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time. He can go to anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave,” Onanuga explained in a post via X on Friday.

President Tinubu left Nigeria on Wednesday, October 2, for a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom as part of his annual leave. In an earlier statement, Onanuga had announced that the President would be using this period to reflect on the economic reforms of his administration.

However, on Friday, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, revealed that Tinubu had departed the UK for Paris, France, for what he described as an “important engagement.”

Masari shared this information through a post on his verified X account, where he also mentioned that he had the opportunity to visit Tinubu at his private residence in the UK before they travelled to France together.
