President Bola Tinubu hosted an Iftar dinner at the State House in Abuja on Monday, bringing together state governors, ministers, and security chiefs for the special Ramadan event.
This marked his first such gathering during this year’s fasting period.
Among those present were Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Their attendance stood out, given the ongoing political dispute in Rivers State.
Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila were also at the dinner, accompanied by several members of the President’s cabinet.

Governors from across Nigeria attended, including those from Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Delta, Edo, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Bayelsa, and Ebonyi states.
Heads of key government agencies also participated in the event, including the Chairperson of the National Hajj Commission, the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, and the heads of the Fire Service and Customs Service.
Senior officials from the petroleum sector, including representatives from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, were also in attendance.
The dinner served as an opportunity for high-ranking officials to come together during the holy month of Ramadan, despite the political tensions present in the country.
