President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a ‘Youth House’ in Abuja, designed to cater to the needs of young individuals from various cultural and social backgrounds.
The announcement was made by Mr. Ayodele Olawande, Minister of State for the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, during a press conference held in Nigeria’s capital. The ‘Youth House’ is set to become a central meeting point for young people, addressing a long-standing need for such a landmark.
Mr Olawande highlighted that the Youth House would offer Nigerian youth a new platform for social interaction and personal development. He noted that the establishment of the Youth House marks a significant milestone for many who have long advocated for such a facility.
The Minister indicated that detailed information regarding the structure and functions of the Youth House will be released soon. The facility aims to focus on developing crucial life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication.
In addition to the Abuja-based Youth House, Olawande announced plans for a Youth Centre in each state capital and a Youth Green House in all 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). While these centres may not be large, they will play a key role in bringing government services closer to young people across the nation.
The initiative will be executed in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and private sector partners, providing various opportunities for different categories of youth.
Olawande commended President Tinubu for his dedication to Nigerian youth, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda has had a tangible impact. He expressed gratitude for the President’s continued support and urged patience and cooperation from the youth as the initiative unfolds.
