Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has issued a directive for the obligatory recitation of the national pledge at all official and public gatherings across the nation.
Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale conveyed in a statement on Thursday that this mandate aims to foster unwavering reverence for national symbols, bolster allegiance to the country, and uphold Nigeria’s intrinsic ethos and identity.
Emphasising the importance of honouring national values and championing the nation’s ideals, President Tinubu underscored the significance of adhering to established norms.
The statement further expressed sentiments of optimism and positivity, asserting, “Everyone of us loves victory. We love to win. When you are positive and you are hopeful, Nigeria is winning.”
The national pledge, to be recited following the national anthem as specified by Mr. Tinubu, enjoins all Nigerians to exhibit faithfulness and loyalty to their country, constituting one of the nation’s cherished symbols.
This directive is issued amidst the backdrop of escalating communal conflicts between herders and local farming communities, primarily centred on resource contention.
