Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has given his approval for the appointment of a fresh board and management team for the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), pending confirmation by the Senate.
According to a statement released by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Jalal Arabi continues to serve as the Chairman of the Commission, while Aliu Abdulrazaq assumes the role of Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, and Finance.
Ngelale emphasised that these appointments were made to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the 2024 Hajj.
The President also ratified the appointments of Prince Anofi Elegushi as the Commissioner of Operations and Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal as the Commissioner of Planning and Research.
For zonal representation, Mr. Muhammad Umaru Ndagi is designated to represent North Central Nigeria, Abba Jato Kala for the North East, and Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman for the North West.
Other representatives include Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe for the South West, Aishat Obi Ahmed for the South East, Zainab Musa for the South South, and Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio for Jama’atul Nasril Islam.
The President also greenlit the appointment of Professor Adedimeji Mahfouz Adebola to represent the Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs.
The President has charged the appointees with a dedication to ensuring that the National Hajj Commission operates with enhanced efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness to the needs of Nigerians.
