President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
This follows the retirement of Haliru Nababa, whose tenure officially ended on December 15, 2024.
The Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board (CDCFIB), Ja’afaru Ahmed, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Friday.
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa,” the statement partly read.
The statement confirmed that Ndidi’s new role took effect immediately upon Nababa’s retirement.
Ndidi, born on November 26, 1966 in Oguta, Imo State, previously served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate. He is a distinguished fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ndidi’s ability to bring his extensive experience to bear in his new role, urging him to sustain and build upon the progress made within the service.
The new Acting Controller-General is now tasked with continuing the reforms and advancing the service’s mandate under Tinubu’s administration.
