President Bola Tinubu has pledged to ensure that children in Nigeria have a strong foundation for achieving their dreams, while stressing the importance of family values in building a nurturing society.
Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale conveyed this message in a statement on Monday, May 27 in Commemoration of the 2024 Children’s Day.
Tinubu described children as the “bearers of the nation’s torch into the future” and urged the reinforcement of family units to instill values of honesty, modesty, hard work, and charity.
He pointed out increased investments in education and recent reforms aimed at improving learning resources and access to education, particularly through the efforts of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education.
The President pledged his commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment while enhancing educational standards across Nigeria.
The statement partly reads:
“The President rejoices with parents, guardians, and families across the nation, and calls for a reinforcement of the family unit as a place where the sacred values of honesty, modesty, hard work, and charity are passed down to the shining lights of tomorrow.
“With increased investments in education, and the recent overhauling of the entire education system to provide both human and material resources for learning, as well as the efforts of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education to get the nation’s precious gifts off the streets, the President emphasises that his administration will continue to expand access to qualitative education for all Nigerians,” Ngelale added.
