Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured that his government is working on palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
Tinubu stated this during an interactive session with Nigerians resident in France and neighbouring European countries on the sidelines of the New Global Financing Pact Summit in the French capital, Paris.
The President had stated in his inaugural speech that there was no budgetary allocation for it.
He also explained that he convinced Organised Labour to abandon the planned protest over removal of subsidy.
“You want money increase in palliative, transportation what are you protesting about? Are you sharing part of the subsidy? if you protest, I will join you and protest and they stopped. No protest.
“Palliative we will get but we have to save the money in order to embark on palliatives,” he said.
