JUST IN: President Tinubu Receives Nigeria’s Anti-Graft Agency Boss Bawa

JUST IN; EFCC Chairman, Bawa, Meets Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa (News Central TV)

President Bola Tinubu and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, are currently having a private meeting at the Presidential House in Abuja.

The meeting takes place just 24 hours after Tinubu ordered the Department of State Services, or DSS, to leave the anti-graft commission’s Ikoyi office.

Bawa was led into the president’s office building after arriving at the villa a few minutes after 2:00 p.m.

The reason for the meeting has not yet been made public, but it might have something to do with the alleged conflict between the EFCC and the DSS regarding ownership of the Ikoyi office.

Remember that the President, in what seemed to be a proactive move, ordered the DSS to leave the EFCC’s Ikoyi office in Lagos immediately on Tuesday.

According to a statement from Tunde Rahman, the President delivered the order after learning that DSS personnel had on Tuesday attacked the EFCC office in Ikoyi’s Awolowo Road, barring staff members from entering their place of employment.

Around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, DSS agents raided the workplace and wouldn’t leave despite communication between agents from the two organisations.

The development on Tuesday came after a simmering conflict between the DSS and the EFCC about who should own the structure.

The EFCC had expressed dismay at how its sister agency’s employees had refused to let its employees inside its Lagos office.

The DSS, however, refuted the assertion and labelled it “not true.”

The President stated that “if there were concerns between the two vital agencies of government, they would be resolved peacefully” in response to the incident late on Tuesday.
