President Bola Tinubu experienced a minor mishap on Wednesday during the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations in Abuja. While attempting to climb into the presidential parade vehicle that drives him around Eagle Square, Tinubu lost his step and fell face down.
News Central reporters observed that the President lost his footing momentarily as he was about to step into the vehicle. Security aides quickly intervened, helping the President back to his feet. Despite the incident, President Tinubu continued with the scheduled events.
Earlier, in a televised broadcast to mark Democracy Day, Tinubu acknowledged the economic hardships caused by recent policies, including the partial removal of electricity subsidies, the removal of fuel subsidies, and the floating of the naira. However, he explained that these measures would create a firmer foundation for future growth.
“Our economy has been in desperate need of reform for decades. It has been unbalanced because it was built on the flawed foundation of over-reliance on revenues from the exploitation of oil,” Tinubu said. “As we continue to reform the economy, I shall always listen to the people and will never turn my back on you.”
