Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at boosting agricultural output through the expansion of farmlands, the provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure.
This ambitious plan was disclosed during a meeting with a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.
Highlighting the administration’s vision, President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to revolutionising the agricultural sector, with the ultimate goal of achieving food self-sufficiency and positioning Nigeria as a net exporter of agricultural goods.
Moreover, President Tinubu affirmed the government’s dedication to supporting Hajj pilgrims and ensuring their welfare.
Recognising the pivotal role of spirituality in national development, President Tinubu underscored the administration’s unwavering support for religious endeavours and stressed the importance of collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance the nation’s interests and foster unity among its citizens.
“We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage,” President Tinubu declared.
Echoing his commitment to agricultural transformation, President Tinubu outlined plans for the acquisition of thousands of tractors and aggressive mechanisation initiatives to significantly enhance food production, emphasising productivity as a fundamental principle.
Expressing gratitude to the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their unwavering support and prayers, President Tinubu emphasised the collective effort required to build a prosperous Nigeria.
In response, Sheikh Mahe Niass, the Khalifa of Tijaniyya, lauded President Tinubu’s dedication to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability, expressing confidence in his leadership and conveying the support and prayers of the Global Tijaniyya Movement.
During their visit, the delegation offered prayers for the nation’s advancement, unity, and prosperity, petitioning Almighty Allah to endow President Tinubu with wisdom, strength, and success in his endeavours.
