Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has pledged to implement a new national living wage for federal government workers, emphasising the moral and political correctness of this decision. President Tinubu conveyed the assurance in his New Year broadcast message to Nigerians on January 1st.
President Tinubu underscored the significance of this action, stating that it aligns with both moral principles and political correctness. In his commitment to the welfare of the workforce, he highlighted the inclusion of this initiative in the 2024 budget.
“In my 2024 Budget presentation to the National Assembly, I listed my administration’s 8 priority areas to include national defence and internal security, job creation, macro-economic stability, investment environment optimisation, human capital development, poverty reduction, and social security. Because we take our development agenda very seriously, our 2024 budget reflects the premium we placed on achieving our governance objectives,” President Tinubu explained.
He further affirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring that every Nigerian experiences the positive impact of governance, with a particular focus on the economic well-being of the poor, vulnerable, and working-class citizens.
President Tinubu concluded by announcing the implementation of a new national living wage for industrious workers in the new year, emphasising the economic, moral, and political significance of this move.
