Paris Saint-Germain staged a sensational second-half comeback to defeat Manchester City 4-2 in a thrilling Champions League encounter at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday. After falling two goals behind, PSG surged back with goals from Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side teetering on the brink of an early exit.
City initially looked in control as Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland struck early in the second half. However, PSG coach Luis Enrique praised his team’s resilience, calling the first goal the game’s turning point. “From that moment on, we were far superior,” he said.
Barcola ignited the comeback by setting up Dembélé to reduce the deficit before scoring the equaliser himself after Désiré Doué’s shot hit the bar. Neves completed the turnaround with a header from Vitinha’s pinpoint free-kick, and Ramos sealed the win deep into injury time after a lengthy VAR review.
City, who had won four of their last five meetings with PSG, now dropped out of the qualifying spots in the Champions League standings. Guardiola admitted PSG were the better team on the night but remains hopeful, saying, “We have the last chance at home against Bruges.”
With this win, PSG leapfrogs City in the standings, boosting their chances of advancing to the play-offs. Meanwhile, City must win their final group game against Club Brugge to secure progression.
