Prosecutors have charged and questioned Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi in connection with rape allegations leveled against him.
According to AFP, the 24-year-old Moroccan international was questioned by Hauts-de-Seine Territorial Security on Thursday and has now been charged.
On February 26, a 24-year-old woman accused him of sexual assault. The alleged incident occurred on February 25 at Hakimi’s home in Paris’s Boulogne neighbourhood.
Fanny Colin, Hakimi’s lawyer, told Le Parisien in a statement released on Tuesday that the player had done nothing wrong, saying the charges are false and that he is composed and ready to serve justice.
Hakimi participated in PSG’s training practice on Friday morning in preparation for their Ligue 1 match against Nantes on Saturday. On Monday, he attended the FIFA Best Awards ceremony in Paris.
