A quranic teacher in Nigeria’s Ogun State has been arrested over the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The 38 years old teacher, Ismaila Saheed, allegedly committed the act August 25, 2020 in Mowe, a suburb of the state.
It was gathered that the victim had gone to the teacher to confide in him that she had been raped earlier that day by one Toliha Sabith, a 20-year-old.
However, the cleric took advantage of the victim on the pretence of helping her remove an imaginary abortion due to the first rape incident.
The suspects have been arrested after the victim lodged a complaint at the Redeemed Camp Police Station, Mowe on August 25.
The Divisional Police Officer, Bala Yakubu, reportedly deployed operatives to go in pursuit of the culprits who were eventually apprehended on Friday.
They have confessed to the crime and would be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
The victim has been admitted in a hospital for proper care.
