Torrential rains pummeled Dubai for the second time in weeks, leading to serious travel disruptions on Thursday.
An airport spokesperson said many inbound flights were diverted, while several others were cancelled.
Last month, the city experienced the heaviest rains ever recorded in the UAE in hours, flooding major highways and the Dubai International Airport. The airport eventually required 22 tankers with vacuum pumps to get the water out.
While the rains weren’t as severe as last month’s downpour, authorities still took precautions, shutting schools and urging residents to stay indoors.
Last month’s flood overwhelmed the city, flooding out neighbourhoods and even the crucial Sheikh Zayed highway that connects the city to Abu Dhabi.
