Reactions as Armed Assailants Allegedly Invade Nigerian University (News Central TV)

Armed Assailants have allegedly invaded Caleb University in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, inflicting students with injuries.

Details of this incident is sketchy but it was gathered that the assailants infiltrated the University premises on Friday July 14 and carted away possessions belonging to the students.

A Twitter user with the handle @daveshewrote tweeted and said: “so armed robbers entered caleb university just last night, robbed the female hostel, injured some students and now the school wants to die it?

wetin we no go see for nigeria”

Another Twitter user alleged in a tweet that assailants also broke into the school last month and gave a warning that they were coming back for another operation.

The Twitter user with the handle @Adesewa_x sais: “thieves came to this uni last month and said they’ll come again, they came back this month and still said they are coming back and the school is threatening the students to to not speak about it or it’ll lead to expulsion. classic caleb university.”

This incident has generated reactions on social media with another Twitter user with the handle @fibekilla stating that: “Caleb university should be held responsible and accountable for the nonsense that is happening 

How can you not have security guarding the girls hostel and why is girls hostel at the entrance of the school?????”

Another twitter user @tiamiuwale said: “What is happening#calebuniversity.”

One @kennjacobs said: “A friend of mine schools in Caleb University,  her hostel was robbed some days back she got injured and is now undergoing treatment. She called her parents to tell her parents as every other students did and the school is threatening her with expulsion. Wtr???.”

The University Authorities, reposnding to this development, debunked the claims and described it as a ‘false alarm’.

The University added: “Campus remains peaceful, and students are in their hostels, while those who have completed their examination have started going home.

“Caleb University will continue to consolidate its profile as a safe, serene, and learner-friendly institution which places high premium on the security of lives and property.”
