Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has announced he is “fully fit” and ready to play in Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Arsenal, despite missing the team’s recent matches due to injury.
The 32-year-old Belgian confirmed his recovery, stating he feels “fine and 100 per cent” after training sessions.
His return is timely, as Real Madrid had to field 19-year-old Fran Gonzalez in their recent La Liga loss due to injuries to both Courtois and his backup, Andriy Lunin.

Courtois expressed respect for Arsenal, acknowledging their strong performance and young, talented squad. He highlighted Arsenal’s strengths in both attack and defence.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described the match as the “biggest night” of his career, emphasising its significance for the club.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Arteta’s work, calling Arsenal a “complete team” and recognising their strong position in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Ancelotti acknowledged Arsenal’s all-around strength, noting they excel in various aspects of the game, highlighting Arteta’s impressive managerial skills.
