Afrobeat sensation Rema has arrived in India to perform at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. Anant Ambani is the son of India’s wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani and Radhika Merchant is the daughter of pharmaceutical moguls Viren and Shaila Merchant.
The Nigerian singer shared a now-deleted video on Instagram of himself walking towards a private chartered plane clad in all-black attire, his song ‘Azaman’ playing in the background, captioned with an Indian tricolour emoji.
According to the Hindustan Times, Rema will be paid $3 million for performing ‘Calm Down‘ at the wedding.
Canadian artist Justin Bieber was paid $10 million for his performance at the same event.
Pop star, Rihanna also performed but her fee remains undisclosed.
The couple will exchange vows on July 12 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Centre (BKC). The extravagant and opulent wedding festivities in Mumbai mark the culmination of a series of luxurious parties hosted by the family since March.
Other dignitaries expected to attend the wedding include Kim Kardashian, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
