Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a Paris-based NGO, declared on Friday that it has submitted a second complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the deaths of seven Palestinian journalists in Gaza spanning from October 22 to December 15.
Addressing the ongoing tragedy in Gaza, Reporters Without Borders filed its recent complaint, focusing on potential war crimes committed by Israeli forces, as stated in its official release.
The RSF has called upon ICC prosecutor Karim Khan to probe all instances of Palestinian journalists’ fatalities attributed to the Israeli military since October 7, totaling 66 casualties as of now.
Among those listed in the complaint is Montaser Al-Sawaf, a freelance cameraman who lost his life in Israeli airstrikes on December 1.
Other journalists mentioned include Asem Al-Barsh, a journalist for Al Najah radio; Bilal Jadallah from Palestinian Press House; Rushdi Al Siraj; Hassouna Salim from Quds news agency; Sari Mansour, a photojournalist for Quds news; and Samer Abu Daqqa, a correspondent for Al Jazeera.
Reporters Without Borders asserts having reasonable grounds to believe that the journalists named in the complaint were victims of attacks amounting to war crimes.
The non-profit organisation suggests that these journalists might have been intentionally targeted for their journalistic roles, categorising the deaths as deliberate homicides of civilians.
This marks the RSF’s second war crimes complaint with the ICC since October 7, the previous one being filed on October 31 and addressing the deaths of seven other journalists.
