No fewer than fourteen villagers have been kidnapped in three distinct villages in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped by the militants in separate attacks when they invaded their towns yesterday at around 1:00 am.

Yakkaka in the Gazari ward, Yallagwada in the Maibakko ward, and Maiturmi in the Rafin-Iwa ward are a few of the villages attacked in Katsina.

The terrorists kidnapped seven (7) people from the hamlet of Yarkaka, six (6) from the village of Yallagwada, and one (1) from the village of Maiturmi.

An eyewitness from the state command of the Nigerian Vigilante Group told newsmen that a similar attack was carried out by suspected terrorists at about 1:00 am yesterday in the neighbouring Dandume Local Government Area of the State, where the assailants killed a son of the Tudun Ali ward head. Despite the fact that members of the Vigilante Group operating in the area managed to rescue the woman victim from Maiturmi village.

On Wednesday, the event was also reported to the media by police spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq.

In order to save the victims and capture the terrorists, he claimed that the police are already on top of the issue.

“Yes, we have received the report and we are making progress, we are making effort in trying to fish out the criminal elements and take necessary actions”, Sadiq added.
