Siphamandla Mtolo, a midfielder for Richards Bay FC of the DStv Premiership in South Africa, passed away on Tuesday morning after collapsing during team training.
The 29-year-old football player passed away unexpectedly, and the team said it is unable to provide any additional information or the medical cause at the moment.
The club wrote on its Twitter page on Tuesday, “It is with deep sadness that Richards Bay FC announce the untimely loss of one of our midfielders, Siphamandla ‘Spepe’ Mtolo. He collapsed this morning during training. The club is not in a position to provide further information at this stage and asks that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time of bereavement. His presence both on and off the pitch will be sorely missed. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Richards Bay FC are with his family, friends and loved ones.”
Mtolo joined the Natal Rich Boyz in 2020 after playing for Uthongathi on the Motsepe Foundation Championship squad.
