Thanks to her massively popular Fenty Beauty makeup line, Rihanna reached a net worth of over $1 billion back in August 2021 but Forbes just made it official official by putting the singer-entrepreneur on its annual list of the wealthiest people on earth.
With a net worth of $1.7 billion, thanks largely to her stakes in Fenty Beauty as well as her Fenty x Savage line, Rihanna joins Peter Jackson, Melinda French Gates, and 233 others on the “new billionaires” list.
She is the first person from her native Barbados to make the list. Forbes reports that her Fenty Beauty line “generated more than $550 million in revenue in 2020.”
She’s number 1,729 on the list of richest people, which is above Jay-Z but under Kanye West. For comparison, Kim Kardashian has a net worth of $1.8 billion, while neither Beyoncé nor Taylor Swift has cracked the billionaire girls’ club. It’s all about that merch, baby!
If this milestone means anything to Rihanna, she isn’t mentioning it. Instead, she’s using Instagram to wish her mom a happy birthday, writing, “Today is my Queen’s birthday!!! Being on the verge of motherhood, unlocked new levels of love and respect I have for my mommy in a way that I could never explain! She’s the true MVP and I wanna give her her flowers every second I can! Love you mumzzzz!!! Happy Birthday! We gon celebrate on da link up!”
She’s also preparing for the imminent arrival of her first child with boyfriend ASAP Rocky. For motherhood advice, she’s looking to a slightly unexpected crop of power women: the Real Housewives. In a recent interview, she cited New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice as an inspiration. She “does not play about her kids,” the Fenty Beauty founder said. “She will flatten you about those kids. And that resonates with me a lot because I feel like that’s the type of mom I’m going to be. Psycho about it.”
“You talk about my kids, it’s over,” she promised. Yeah, don’t cross a billionaire.
