The legacy that has followed South African Rapper Rikhado Makhado, Popularly known as Riky Rick has birthed a new initiative. Following his death, on February 23 2022 his brainchild, the Cotton Fest, has expanded to cater to South African Creatives in a new program.
To honour the late musician’s legacy, the organising team has launched the Cotton Fest Creative Programme aimed at giving back to students in the community while creating various outlets to empower young creatives to succeed in their studies and careers. With new partnerships, the initiative has announced that the top three students from AFDA Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban will be awarded bursaries to cover the shortfall of their tuition fees and assist them to graduate.
The festival is a music concert that has celebrated hip-hop, house, amapiano and other leading South African music genres. Since its launch in 2019, it supported music acts and also fashion and food within the country to empower young potential talent and create employment. This comes after Cotton Fest recently hosted another successful event in Cape Town.
