Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the newly appointed sole administrator of Rivers State, arrived at Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday afternoon. His arrival was marked by the presence of key allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, while supporters of the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, were notably absent.
Among those present was Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, the Director of Energy Security and former chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area under former Governor Wike. Flag-Amachree was seen coordinating activities at the Government House ahead of Ibas’s arrival.

Speaking briefly, the sole administrator stated that he had begun consultations with the Head of Service, permanent secretaries, and security chiefs to receive formal briefings on the state’s affairs. He reassured the public that Port Harcourt remains calm and pledged to restore stability to Rivers State.
“I want to thank you (press) for what you have been doing so far. You are all aware I just got in here and decided to meet with the Head of Service, the permanent secretaries, and the service commanders to get formal briefings.
“It is proper for me to have something to say to you all thereafter. I assure you that this evening, I will address you and the issues you may want to raise now.
“Port Harcourt is calm. All we want is for Port Harcourt to get back to where it has always been,” he said

He further emphasised his commitment to ensuring that Rivers State regains its position, promising to address key concerns in due course.
