The newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Retired), has committed to prioritising peace, security, and stability in the state.
Ibas made this vow on Wednesday while addressing State House Correspondents after taking the oath of office, officiated by President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
In his address, Ibas stressed the urgent need to restore law and order in Rivers State, describing it as the foundation for meaningful governance and development. He acknowledged the circumstances that led to his appointment, noting: “First of all, I think we know the circumstances that led to where we are here.”

Ibas reaffirmed President Tinubu’s directive, outlining that his primary mandate is to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure stability in the state. He assured the people of Rivers State that his administration would collaborate with relevant authorities to restore peace and enhance effective governance.
The swearing-in ceremony at the President’s office was attended by several key figures, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, Principal Private Secretary to the President, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
