Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has invited 24 players ahead of Nigeria’s 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
There were no sweeping changes in the team, as the coach invited his trusted regulars with the duo of John Nobble and Sadiq Umar being the only additions.
The Franco-German also invited eight players who have been placed on standby.

Rohr had informed News Central TV in an interview that he was considering an invitation to Umar who has impressed with Almeria this season in the second division of Spanish football. The former U-23 international and Olympics bronze-winning attacker has scored 13 goals in 25 games this season.
Nobble, a home-based goalkeeper with Enyimba, was the architect of the Peoples Elephants progression to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup. He saved two spot-kicks against Rivers United and did enough to impress the national team coach, who was in the stands.
The standby list has some of Nigeria’s finest performers in Europe with Paul Onuachu, Terem Moffi, Abia Warriors’ Adeniyi Adeleke, Peter Olayinka, Henry Onyekuru, South-Africa based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Reading’s Michael Olise.
