Ruling APC Bars Media Ahead of Screening of Presidential Hopefuls Ahead of Primaries (News Central TV)

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, commenced its screening of the party’s presidential aspirants, following a reschedule last week. 

As the screening commenced, members of the press were denied access into the closed-door screening at the Hilton Transcorp Hotel in Abuja. 

Some of the party leaders spotted at the event included APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; the party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, amongst others.

The exercise, which follows ahead of the APC Special Convention for Presidential Primary fixed for Monday, June 6 to Wednesday, June 8, was conducted by a seven-man Presidential Screening Committee chaired by a former National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun.

Some of the presidential aspirants to be screened include National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osibanjo; former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of Niger Delta Development, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, amongst others.

It was observed that former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and others were conspicuously missing from the list of presidential hopefuls to be screened.
