The Ukrainian Air Force said on Monday that Russia launched 479 drones at the country in what it described as the war’s largest overnight drone bombardment.
In addition, 20 missiles of various types were fired at different parts of Ukraine, the air force reported.
Russian forces continued shelling Ukrainian locations from late in the evening into the morning, taking advantage of the darkness, as drones are harder to detect at night.
Russia has relentlessly targeted civilian areas in Ukraine with Shahed drones throughout the more than three-year-long war. According to United Nations reports, these barrages have killed over 12,000 Ukrainian civilians.
