Russia Resumes International Flight With Egypt

The Russia government on Thursday ordered the resumption of international flights with Egypt the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Maldives.

A government order published Thursday authorised three flights a week to Cairo and two flights a week to Dubai and the Maldives’ Velana International Airport.

Russia, the 4th most infected country with the coronavirus, suspended all regular and charter international flights with other countries at the end of March in the wake of the virus outbreak worldwide.

The country only allowed repatriation trips.

The decision was reviewed in August and the country resumed flights to Great Britain, Tanzania, Turkey and Switzerland in accordance with some criteria determined by the Russian anti-coronavirus crisis centre.

The criteria include recording no more than 40 new cases of the coronavirus infection per 100,000 of the population within a 14 day period, no more than 1% daily growth of the new cases over 14 days, and the coronavirus spread coefficient not higher than one over a week.

Egypt daily coronavirus cases and deaths have declined in recent times, posting daily tallies of less than a thousand new cases consistently since July 9.

The government on July 1 resumed regular international flights at all its airports after a four-month hiatus due to the pandemic.
