Moscow has expressed a willingness to mediate peace efforts in the Middle East, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Friday. In response to reports that Israel approached Russia to mediate its contacts with Hezbollah, Peskov clarified that Russia maintains contacts with all relevant parties, quoting President Vladimir Putin.
“And, of course, if our efforts can be effective somewhere, than Russia will be ready to make them,” he said, emphasising Russia’s readiness to assist in stabilising the region.
Israel, which has killed 43,000 Palestinians in Gaza since a cross border attack by Hamas last October, expanded the conflict in Lebanon in late September.
