Rwanda Resumes Flight to UAE

Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir, will resume flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on January 20.

The airline announced the development on Tuesday, ending a four-week suspension of operation.

On December 27, Rwandan Airlines’ flights to Dubai were suspended after the UAE banned flights from some African nations following the appearance of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

A statement from the airline clarified that resumption of flights to Dubai will, however, depend on passenger origins, as some points of departure remain blocked from travel to the UAE.

“Effective January 20, 2022, RwandAir will resume passenger flights to Dubai for passengers originating from Kigali, Entebbe, Douala, Bujumbura, Accra and Lusaka,” the statement read in part. “Passenger services from the rest of our network to Dubai as a final destination remain suspended until further notice.”

Travellers will still have to produce COVID-19 vaccination certificates before travel as required.
