The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has appointed a new ambassador for the Rwandan embassy in France.

Kagame also appointed another envoy to Qatar. On Saturday, April 9, he presided over a cabinet meeting that named Francois Nkulikiyimfura as Rwanda’s new ambassador to France and Igor Marara as Rwanda’s new envoy to Qatar.

Prior to his new responsibilities, Nkulikiyimfura served as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Qatar, where he would be replaced by Marara, a diplomat who formerly worked as a Counselor at the Rwandan High Commission in Canada.

François Ngarambe was the ambassador prior to Nkulikiyimfura’s appointment.

The Republic of Italy, the Principality of Monaco, the Republic of Portugal, and the Kingdom of Spain are all under the jurisdiction of the Rwandan Embassy in France.

The Rwandan Embassy in France also serves as Rwanda’s Permanent Representative to the International Organization of La Francophonie, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the World Food Program (WFP).

In 2019, the Rwandan Embassy in Qatar opened, and Nkulikiyimfura was the first ambassador to be nominated to represent Rwanda in the Middle East state. The State of Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman are also accredited to the Embassy.
