Rwandan Singer Buravan Dies From Cancer at 27 (News Central TV)

Yvan Buravan, a musician from Rwanda, passed away at the age of 27, according to a statement by his manager.

“It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce to you the untimely passing of our beloved Yvan Buravan, which occurred tonight in India, where he was undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.

“Yvan Buravan was a genuine soul that radiated happiness to everyone around him. He motivated all of us to love our Country and our Culture.”

It added: “His loss will be immensely felt by his family and friends and throughout our industry.

“We are certain that our community will remain united, as we go through this unspeakable tragedy.”

The artist was receiving treatment in India for pancreatic cancer after receiving a diagnosis.

In order to allay rumours about his safety, the artist released a statement on August 4 after arriving in India, telling his friends and followers that he was healthy and awaiting a medical evaluation to ascertain the ailment he was experiencing.

Following an illness that had kept him in the hospital for several weeks, the singer of “Malaika” was sent to the Asian country for additional care. Buravan thanked everyone who had prayed for him as well as the Rwandan government for covering his medical expenses.

He rose to fame in Rwanda as a result of the 2016 hit song Malaika. He won the Prix Découvertes in 2018, one of the major music competitions in Africa run by RFI and UNESCO. On social media, a lot of Rwandans are lamenting his passing.
