Senegal’s Teranga Lions are not the clear favourites to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to their star forward, Sadio Mane.

Mane said in a media interview that France and Spain are his two top picks to win the tournament in Qatar.

“I don’t see Senegal as a favourite because there are other nations very far ahead of Senegal like France, and Spain.

We will go there with no cold and try to do what we have used to do,” Mane remarked.

In 93 games played for Senegal, Mane has scored 34 goals. Senegal’s finest World Cup performance was in 2002 in Korea/Japan, where they advanced to the quarterfinals. The Teranga Lions have qualified for three FIFA World Cups; Korea/Japan 2022, Russia 2018, and Qatar 2022, where they are set to play Qatar, Ecuador, and the Netherlands in Group A
