Africa’s football governing body, CAF has released a list of nominees for the Men’s Player of the Year award category.
Liverpool star, Mohammed Salah and his former club teammate Sadio Mane were both nominated for the award while Manchester City winger, Riyad Mahrez also made the cut.
The award had five Senegalese players, four Moroccans and four Egyptians on the nominees list.
Arsenal midfielder, Mohamed Elneny, Burkinabe forward Bertrand Traore, Blati Toure, Edmund Tapsoba, Napoli’s Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa, Karl Tojo Ekambi, Vincent Aboubakar who finished as top scorer at the 2021 AFCON, Youssouf Nchagama, Franck Kessie, Sebastian Haller, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Mohamed ElShenawy, Musa Barrow, Naby Keita and Mali’s Aliou Dieng all made the list.
Other nominees are; Hamari Traore, Tottenham new signing Yves Bissouma, Achraf Hakimi, Sofiane Boufal, Yahya Jabrane, Yassine Bounou, Nigeria’s Moses Simon, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, Nanpalys Mendy, Saliou Ciss and Ali Maaloul were all nominated for the award slated to hold on the 21st of July.
Pitso Mosimane, Queiroz Make Coach of the Year Nominations
The coach of the year category has Kamou Mallo, Amir Abdou, Carlos Queiroz, Pitso Mosimane, Tom Saintfiet, Florent Ibenge, Vahid Halihodzic of Morocco, Walid Regragui, Aliou Cisse and Mandla Ncikazi were also nominated.
Other categories included the Interclub Player of the Year, National team of the Year, Young Player of the Year categories and club of the Year.
Nominations for the women nominees will come up on the 5th of July.
