Samsung Collaborates with Google, Incorporates Advanced AI in Galaxy S24 Series

Samsung has teamed up with Google to infuse generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities into the highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series.

This partnership is geared towards elevating the user experience, boosting device performance, and unlocking a new echelon of intelligent features on Samsung’s flagship smartphones.

Under the multi-year agreement, the South Korean tech giant will integrate Gemini Nano, Google’s cutting-edge and highly efficient large-language model, into its flagship S24 series. Additionally, the collaboration provides Samsung access to advanced technologies such as Gemini Pro and Imagen 2, which bring cloud-based text-to-image capabilities to the table.

Google is in a race with Microsoft to embed GenAI in everyday applications and devices, spanning smartphones, personal computers, and productivity software, as both companies explore new avenues to monetize these tools.

With this Google partnership, Samsung positions itself as one of the trailblazing companies conducting testing of Gemini Ultra, an advanced and expansive large-language model developed by the search engine giant.

This collaboration empowers users to harness AI-driven summarization and classification functionalities within Samsung’s native applications, including Notes, Voice Recorder, and the keyboard.

Furthermore, the Imagen model contributes to enabling users to perform intricate photo editing tasks in the Gallery application of the S24 smartphones, slated for release around the end of January.

Despite facing stiff competition from Apple and Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi and Transsion in the fourth quarter of 2023, Samsung remains at the forefront of innovation. According to analytics firm International Data Corporation, Samsung’s global shipments experienced a dip from nearly 60 million units in the previous year to 53 million units.
