Saudi Arabia Announces Reopening of Embassy in Somalia

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry has announced the reopening of the Kingdom’s embassy in Somalia.

The Foreign Ministry praised the efforts of the Mogadishu government in facilitating the reopening of the mission, saying it reflects the depth of relations with Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia looks forward to promoting cooperation with Somalia for the common interests of the people of the two countries, said the ministry.

A Saudi delegation visited Somalia in June to discuss steps to reopen the embassy.

Saudi Arabia shut down its embassy in 1991 following disturbances and civil war in Somalia.

It added that it hopes to bolster joint work between their countries to achieve further prosperity and development for them and their people.
