The much anticipated Sol fest show had Kenyans and other attendees complaining. Reports say the performance by the festival’s main act, multiple award-winning Kenyan group Sauti Sol was too short, as the band of 4 members took the stage at about 3am.
Sauti sol and the Sol Fest organisers have now responded to the uproar promising better arrangements in future concerts. A part of their official statement on their official social media platform read
“Our intention was to put on a spectacular event, ensuring each artist and group received enough time to deliver their very best performances to all fans. We also put more focus on the local talent who were performing, and our international guests. We acknowledge that this may have led to some unfortunate delays in keeping the show running in a timely fashion and would like to reassure all our fans and supporters that we will plan better for this in the future,” they said
The solfest management made it clear that the show was a platform for more than just Sauti Sol and it’s Sol generation artists but to also to showcase a variety of talented African musicians. The festivals performers included Tanzanian star Harmonize, South African amapiano artist Costa Titch, rappers Juliani & Octopizzo, and African Pop Star Nadia Mukami, amongst others.
