All primary and secondary schools across Bayelsa State have been directed to shut down as a result of the devastation caused by flood.
The directive takes effect from Monday October 3 to Friday November 11, 2022.
Agala Danmini who represented the permanent secretary, planning, research and statistics in the ministry of Education said that the decision was taken to avert further danger to lives and properties.
He noted that 18 schools across Kolokuma/ Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia and Yenagoa Local Government Areas are expected to wait until Monday October 10,2022 before embarking on the flood break.
Damini further explained that the delay was a result of a proposed visit by officials from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Abuja and Ministry of Education personnel for data validation exercise in the affected schools.
