Emergency workers, divers, fishermen and residents have intensified the search for missing passengers of a boat that capsized on Tuesday in Nigeria’s Northwestern Kebbi state.
Thus far, 14 bodies have been recovered while six remain missing in Tuesday’s boat mishap in the Koko/Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi.

An official of the Nigeria Inland Waterways said the accident was as a result of an overloaded boat ferrying more than 100 rice farmers to Samanaji, a riverine community, capsized at night.
80 passengers were initially rescued, then 14 more were rescued. A similar accident in March 2022 claimed four members of a family in the same state.
