The Eastern Security Network, ESN, the security branch of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is suspected to have camps in Omege village, Agba community, and a shrine in Isu Onicha, all in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The Nigerian police claim to have discovered these locations as part of its ongoing effort to purge Ebonyi of all forms of criminal activity.
This was said in a statement released on Sunday in the state capital Abakaliki by the Ebonyi State Police Command as the command paraded two suspects connected to the organisation.
He claimed that the police raided the camp, detained two individuals, and removed the thugs who had fled after a more than 30-minute gunfight.
He claims that one of the organisation’s top leaders, SARS Commander, who is thought to be a native of Cross River State, is wanted and on the run.
The police image creator disclosed that this police achievement is considered as relevant as general election campaigns for 2023 get underway and the holiday season approaches.
Among other things allegedly utilised by the defendants, materials recovered from them include military uniforms, two double barrel rifles, bulletproof jackets, two camp gas cookers, and mosquito nets.
