The lawmaker representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshal, has condemned the recent abduction of 22 people by bandits in Kugauta and Kitanda communities of Kumana Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Expressing sadness over the incident, Senator Marshal pledged to collaborate with the Kaduna State Government and the Chief of Defence Staff to establish a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the troubled area.
In a statement, he described the attack as heinous criminality against innocent citizens, adding that such atrocities must not continue unchecked.
“These renewed attacks on the peace-loving people of Southern Kaduna are unacceptable. The abductions have caused immense suffering and hardship,” he said.
Citing Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution, which mandates the government to prioritise citizens’ security and welfare, the senator reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring safety in affected communities.
To achieve this, he is working with relevant authorities to set up a military base in Kauru and other vulnerable areas.
While appreciating security agencies for their efforts, he urged them to intensify operations to safeguard lives and property across Southern Kaduna and beyond.
