Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Drops Suit Against APC, Aiyedatiwa, INEC

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has withdrawn his lawsuit challenging Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa‘s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.

The suit targeted the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged irregularities in the party’s primary.

Ibrahim cited interventions from President Bola Tinubu, who pledged to enhance internal party democracy. He stressed that his action was not personal, but aimed at improving party processes.

Ibrahim expressed gratitude to Tinubu and marked the withdrawal as a gift on the anniversary of the President’s tenure.

At a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday where Senator Jimoh Ibrahim made the announcement, he stated:

”The suit is now withdrawn due to the intervention of President Tinubu.

“The President called me, had a meeting with me, and assured me that he would, as the leader of the party, improve on internal democracy within our party. And that I will need to withdraw the case to enable him to chart a way forward.

“The governor earlier visited my Asokoro residence for several hours after an unsuccessful visit to my hotel room in Akure.

”I cannot disobey the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because the issue I am fighting for is not personal.

“It is simply to improve internal democracy, to which the President has promised improvement. My respect for the President is absolute!” he said.
